Close to the Heart of Anchorage
The Mall at Sears is located in the heart of Anchorage’s midtown area, surrounded by the city’s busiest intersections. Midtown also hosts an ever growing number of hotels (1400 rooms and counting), large office buildings, the campus of the University of Alaska and two major hospitals.
The Mall was Anchorage’s first shopping center, and it continues to be the busiest*. This is not only due to its great location, but also because of the very convenient parking and the great mix of stores for shoppers on the go. *based on shoppers per square foot of GLA
A new Vision for the MALL
The Mall recently completed an extensive remodel which included new architectural finishes and a brand new main entrance on Benson Boulevard.
Benson Boulevard is one of Anchorage’s busiest streets, bringing an average of 24,000+ cars past that side of the Mall every day. But when the Mall was first built, Northern Lights was the main “drag” and Benson was little more than a service alley, so our main entrances were all on the north side of the building. To remedy that situation, we recently undertook a dramatic redesign of the south side of the Mall to update the center’s curb appeal and live up to the location’s full potential.
With the remodel completed, the new design offers easy access, abundant parking, new promotional signage areas and two large attention-getting display cases for our merchants’ use. In addition, we created two brand new spaces (see image below) that offer excellent street exposure with direct access for customers, and lots of sunlight due to their great southern exposure – always a big plus in Alaska!
